This July 7th would be my nephew's 7th birthday. It is hard to imagine that he would be that old. As I talked about in an earlier post, he passed away when he was 34 months old.
Seven years ago when he was born I had no idea what kind of impact that he would have on me, my family, friends of the family, complete strangers and many different doctors and nurses. Due to situations in our family my parents and myself had the great privilege of having him in our home when he was not in Primary Children's hospital. It took a lot of energy, especial from my mom to take care of him as he had a feeding tube and needed to have a lot of different medicines and vitamins injected through is G-tube, plus his food.
My dad and myself had many great opportunities to give him Priesthood blessings on many different occasions. From giving him blessings to let him know that all would be okay, to racing up to Primary's in the middle of the night to give him a blessing because nothing the doctors were able to do was working, to the last one when at the young age of 34 months he understood what was going on and the great peace that came over him. What great comfort that was for us to see and feel that peace.
Still to this day even though he has passed from this mortal life, the influence that he has on us continues in ways that are too many to list. It is great comfort to know that he is still around, that it wasn't the end on that May day in 2004.
This is a video that a good family friend put together for us. Unfortunately the final video is in a format that I can't upload.
